CSA has formed an exclusive relationship with developer HN Homes to design all of their single family homes and row houses. The consistent modern language and contemporary open plans have become a hit with Ottawa home purchasers. To date there are 14 single family models to choose from ranging in size from 1600 sq.ft. to 3600 sq.ft., and on lot sizes from 35 to 50ft. wide. “The Aston” won “Best Production Home, Single Detached, 2600 to 3500 sq.ft., $750K and over” at the 2016 GOHBA Housing Design Awards
Infill projects are a forté for CSA. With RND we have developed a series of projects for tight urban lots and larger suburban venues in a variety of forms. All of these projects have achieved excellent energy efficiencies with a variety of ratings such as LEED Gold and R2000. The Eddy is a 6 storey, mixed used condominium in the transitioning area of Hintonburg, in Ottawa, containing a 51 residential units and 6000 sqft of ground floor commercial space. The project involved the remediation of a brownfield site and achieved targeted environmental goals set under the LEED-H (Multi-Family Midrise) Platinum. The Eddy has a GFA of 65000 sqft, and provides access to a rooftop terrace equipped with individual garden plots and shared recreational areas. The 5BY2 puzzle parking system accommodating 47 spots, was implemented to efficiently contend with the constraints of the footprint and eliminate air pollution under living spaces. Other environmentally friendly strategies utilized include a high performance building envelope, a geo-exchange system for heating and cooling to provide operational cost savings to residents, rainwater harvesting for use in water closets, dedicated ERV’s installed in each unit, as well as many other environmental considerations. This project won “Best High Rise Building- 50 units or more” in the 2016 GOHBA Housing Design Awards
CSA has worked with Windmill Development on state of the art sustainability driven projects. We have developed techniques that can be incorporated into our housing projects that work within the budget constraints, work to reduce life cycle costs, increase building durability and reduce energy consumption.
