Michelle earned a Master of Architecture degree from Carleton University and Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies from Dalhousie University. As a part of her architectural education she spent a semester abroad in Lisbon, Portugal studying at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, and participated in community design/build workshops in Nova Scotia. During graduate school she was a research and teaching assistant and recipient of the John E. Ruddy Architecture Scholarship. Her graduate thesis focused on material investigation and novel representation techniques as a means to investigate and interpret Canada’s rich material history. She has extensive experience with 3D modeling and digital fabrication.
Michelle did her undergraduate co-op term with Christopher Simmonds Architect and joined the firm as a full time employee in 2013. She then pursued a Master’s degree and rejoined the firm full-time in 2017 as an Intern Architect.
Michelle enjoys volunteering for events put on by the Ottawa arts community such as Ottawa Architecture Week, Doors Open Ottawa, and Nuit Blanche Ottawa Gatineau. Michelle is fluently bilingual, an avid snowboarder and enjoys spending time with family, friends and dogs at the cottage.
Michelle has a lighthearted approach to finding unique and beautiful design solutions, and is passionate about minimal design and fine craftsmanship.
