This 5-storey, 73 unit apartment building is under construction with occupancy scheduled for Spring 2012. Designed for seniors, the building features gentle slopes to walkways, flush thresholds, wheel chair accessible door openings and corridors and wheel-in showers in all units. It will also include a number of services such as medical and hair dressing, as well as lounge areas, overnight guest accommodations and a community dining room with an exterior terrace.
Full landscaping, incorporating many of the existing trees and shrubs, and designed with open green spaces and walking paths, offer a visual connection to the existing apartment building on the site providing a campus-like appearance. Balconies (with "living wall" construction) at all units provide access to the outdoors.
Following LEED principles, the building is designed and built with energy conservation in mind and includes energy efficient windows and doors, light sensor controls, low-flow plumbing fixtures and energy-wise appliances. Roof-top photovoltaics and a solar hot water system (by iSolara) make this an energy generating building.
Updates to follow as we get closer to occupancy.
