Manotick, Ontario
Eastern Ontario's first LEED Gold building, the RVCC houses the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and is an exemplary project managing energy, water and resource consumption. It functions as both an office building and park visitor centre.
This 21,000 sq. ft. building is oriented to maximize passive solar heating, natural daylight and views of the surrounding landscape. State of the art grey and black water treatment systems have reduced water consumption by 80%. The building achieves a 42% reduction in energy consumption over Model National Energy Code for Buildings.
"This building is an absolute pleasure to work in. Our employees enjoy the bright interior and sense of space, as well as the beautiful views through natural landscaping out to the park. The building design gives us significant gains in energy efficiency and water conservation. This is a true success story from everyone's perspective."
