Escarpment House

Halton Hills, Ontario

The hipped roof wings of this Asian influenced house radiate out in four directions to integrate the structure with the site topography and enhance the owner’s experience of the surrounding landscape. It enjoys an intimate relationship with its garden and outdoor spaces – at the same time maximizing the experience of the larger landscape context of public paths and conservation lands.

The pivotally located home office space has views through the open plan living areas to forested conservation lands to the east and south.

Completed in 2006, this home won Most Outstanding Custom Home in Ontario, and Ottawa voted it the Best Project in the Open Category.

Chris and his team successfully blended my appreciation of Asian aesthetics and modernism into a captivating and wonderfully-warm home. It is a delight to live in this secluded serene home that has so much light and panoramic interconnection with nature
